Goodbye Twillingate–Hello Musgrave 7-28-14

Sadly it is time to leave Twillingate and travel on.  “T” a delighful, beautiful, friendly town upon the bay.  Decided to drive #330  east along the water – Denny had heard of a nice boondocking spot along the water.  And there it was….. Ocean front property………IMG_0982IMG_0997

Surprise – there were new friends we had met in “T” parked there too!  Someone had given them a fresh Cod Fish – so it was a pot luck dinner to share.

During the afternoon they took me ‘cape apple’ picking – also know as cloud berries.  What an adventure across the field and thru the woods – now let me tell you a bog is not flat, nor is it level --- it is one foot up and oh my one foot way down, then a step or two along a narrow high spot and then down into the mud.  Needless to say – clumsy me was down a few times….. but we did find the allusive berry – one singe berry per plant – and the area already well picked.  The trick is to pick the ripe ones – they are just a bit sweet with a seed or two inside.  We were told a gallon of berries can sell for $100 – I believe it!  Will make Cape Apple Jelly with my pick!

After dinner it was a camp fire with music – a delightful way to end the day along the sea shore with friends.
