Ninilchek,, AK

7-13-13 --- Ah!!! Parked at Deep Creek with an ocean and mountain view…. tides coming and going certainly teach patience.  So we’ll sit and relax a while…… well maybe a few days at least!Ninilchek, AK 002

Larry & Peggy Leonard SP #1426 invited the Dudley’s and Orrs for dinner at their home in Ninilchek – Delightful, friendly SKPs who love to visit with other SKPs traveling thru the area.  They have lived here in Alaska since 1981.  I’d say they are real Alaskans now!Ninilchek, AK 015

Today we took a beach drive to see the eagles (lots of eagles) and of course the gulls lunching on fish.  They love to feed on the fish carcasses of halibut and salmon.  Okay it’s Lunch Time!Ninilchek, AK 047Ninilchek, AK 031

Then a drive to Old Ninilchek…… a scenic old village Ninilchek, AK 058

With an old Russian Orthodox Church perched high on the bluff.

Denny is always interested in ‘just how they do that’ – so bringing in the fishing boats with a remodeled ‘lumber tractor’ made for an interesting afternoon of watching…….Ninilchek, AK 069

Me, I think I like the wild flowers better…… Cow parsnip is everywhere and here with a bit of fireweed.Ninilchek, AK 054

Have you caught up with the six SLP couples in the neighborhood? Jan/Chuck Moore, Gregg/Sally Schindell, Judy/(?) Sheely, Forresters, ++. I think they are boondocking at the Kemai/Soldotna airport.

Beautiful photos. I think the hardest part would be to sit and relax.
